Standing stone in Lisnaboy Lower

Standing stone

What is recorded here

M. O'Keeffe's land in Lisnaboy Lower once held one of two standing stones recorded by Bowman in 1934. The stone was broken and removed, erasing its exact location and leaving behind a vacant memory rather than a visible marker. What remains is the absence itself: a place where human hands changed the landscape and then disappeared from it.
One of two stones (10097) recorded by Bowman (1934, 263) on M. O'Keeffe's land; 'broken and removed'. Exact location not known. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 4: North Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2000). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 14 January 2009

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
