What is recorded here
Knockmullin holds a tall rectangular conglomerate stone aligned northwest to southeast on a slight pasture rise. The stone stands twenty-two centimetres higher than a person, narrow enough to shadow at dusk but broad enough to mark a direction across open ground. It may have guided herds, measured seasons or witnessed disputes now forgotten. In that case the stone is not decorative; it is a witness that outlived the hands which set it upright.
Situated on a slight rise in a col on an undulating pasture. This is an upright, rectangular conglomerate stone (dims 0.7m x 0.35m; H 2.2m) aligned NW-SE.
The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Leitrim' compiled by Michael J. Moore (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2003). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
