What is recorded here

Gortnacreha is in the Barry Keating area of County Cork, where a standing stone once rose beside human life. Whether it marked a boundary, a burial or a meeting place, the stone still belongs to the story because it was seen and remembered. People may have gathered there in rain, festival or argument, and the stone may have stood as a witness when the names of those people were forgotten. What is lost is not importance but time; the place still asks to be imagined with care.

Bowman (1934, 262) recorded 'broken and removed' standing stone on T. Hickey's land. Exact location not known.
