Standing stone in Corstown (fore By.)

Standing stone

What is recorded here

Standing stone in Corstown (fore By.) is a 1.1m upright stone on a steep NW-facing knoll of Carnbane East, aligned ENE-WSW as if marking a line of sight across the valley. It is small enough to be overlooked and sharp enough to stop a person walking in a hurry. The slope, the opening sky and the stone’s direction suggest it was set where a path, boundary or ritual view could be read at a glance.
Situated on a knoll on the steep NW-facing slope of Carnbane East or Slieve na Callliagh. An upright stone (dims of base 0.47m x 0.2m; H 1.1m) is oriented ENE-WSW. See the attached view from SSW Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload; 20 March 2020
