Standing stone

What is recorded here

Towards the top of a gentle S-facing slope at the S end of a NW-SE ridge. A limestone upright (dims. 1.2m x 0.25-0.55m) roughly aligned ENE-WSW has a triangular profile (H 1.1m). Cross (RO025-028001-) is c. 50m to the E. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 24 August 2010
Probably dating to the Early Christian period, this standing stone may have had a ritual or commemorative function, possibly associated with the nearby cross. Its alignment and position suggest it could have been part of a wider landscape of sacred or symbolic sites.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
