Inside Clonmeen North, an unmarked stone still stands beside the remains of a small dolmen-class monument. H. Roe recorded both in her unpublished Laois County gazetteer, but never gave the exact spot. The wood has taken back the path, the alignment and perhaps the hands that lifted the stones. What is left is a shape tall enough to break the treeline and quiet enough to disappear from memory.
