STANDING STONE in Cloghs

STANDING STONE

What is recorded here

No reliable detail has survived to identify the stone, the hand that raised it or the event that stopped there. Invention would complete the gap only by displacing the fact that the gap still stands. What is known is that Cloghs contained a standing stone worthy of official recognition while its meaning resisted every claimant who approached it.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as STANDING STONE. Recorded period: UNCERTAIN; PREHISTORIC. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
