What is recorded here
No visible stone remains at Cloghaviller today, though a low limestone pillar stood there when measured in 1943. It was small, weathered and easy to miss: twenty-eight inches tall, fourteen inches wide and nine inches thick. A person could have touched it, leaned past it or forgotten it within an hour. What is lost is not grandeur but presence, a little stone marker in County Limerick that stopped being a landmark and became only memory.
Standing stone described in 1943 as following; 'This is a low limestone pillar very well weathered. It measures 2' 4" [0.7m] by 1' 2" [0.36m] wide by 9" [0.23m] thick' (O'Kelly 1942-3, 171). No surface remains visible today on Digital Globe aerial photograph.
