Ancestral hands may have lifted the stone before human memory began. They measured distance, marked boundary or watched the sea from that exact spot. Farming changed the land around it, but the stone still points toward Smerwick Harbour. It has outlasted every road, fence and forgetfulness attempted against it.

A standing stone now located within a farmyard on a gentle slope between Reenconnell to W and the lowlying land surrounding Smerwick Harbour to E and S. It stands 2.8m high and is 1.24m wide terminating in a rounded point at top; NE-SW. The E elevation is almost totally concealed by a stack of concrete blocks. Probably dating to the Late Neolithic or Bronze Age, this standing stone may have had ceremonial or territorial significance, possibly linked to nearby prehistoric settlements or passage tombs in the region. Local folklore sometimes associates such stones with ancient druidic practices or as markers for otherworldly boundaries.
