Miltown, Castlecor Demesne: in the food and road years the old yard was paved, the yard dog killed, the hall chairs broken for firewood, the archive carted off. What is left is a chamber pot and a standing stone. The stone still stands beside the barrow, triangular and unashamed. It has outlived every claim made around it.

In fosse, on E side of ring barrow (11831). Stone (H 1.45m; 1m x 2m) is triangular in plan and section, long axis NE-SW. Probably dating to the Late Neolithic or Early Bronze Age, this standing stone may have had a funerary or ritual function, associated with the nearby ring barrow. Its placement within a fosse suggests it could have been part of a more complex ceremonial landscape.
