Standing stone in Carrowmore (loughrea By.)

Standing stone

What is recorded here

Ten metres southeast of the main stone, a conical granite boulder still stands in the Carrowmore grass. It is not a tall pillar but a low, tapering marker, perhaps placed beside the larger stone to complete a pair or indicate a buried line. People may have walked past it for centuries, reading its shape as a boundary, a gift, or a warning. The chamber and the cairn have vanished, yet this small stone remains visible because it is still standing where it was set.
In grassland c. 10m to the SSE of a standing stone (GA098-067----). This possible standing stone consists of a roughly circular granite boulder (diam. 1.9m; H 0.65m) which tapers towards the top giving it a conical profile.
