Carrowmore in loughrea By. holds a squat oval standing stone, nine-tenths of a metre high, aligned north-south in level grassland. Cattle still treat the ancient granite as a scratching post, rubbing their coats against a surface that has outlasted every farm and kingdom. Ten metres to the south-east another possible stone waits in the grass, suggesting the field once belonged to a larger conversation between people and sky.

In level grassland. This standing stone consists of a squat granite boulder (H 0.9m; max. Wth 1m; ), oval in plan and aligned N-S. It is used by cattle as a scratching post. It is similar in shape to the Turoe stone (GA097-152----) but is smaller than it and is undecorated. Another possible standing stone (GA098-067001-) lies c. 10m to the SSE.
