Caherdaniel West holds a seven-foot stone, broad and irregular, set in rough pasture on a north-facing slope. Its long axis points west-southwest to east-northeast, not toward any obvious doorway, altar or boundary. A person may have stood before it in rain, marked a loss, watched the sky or simply known the shape of the place. The stone still does that: it gives the landscape a point of return.

This standing stone is published in Myler, D. (1998) An Archaeological Survey of the Mealagh Valley. Mealagh Valley Community Development Association, 120. Here it is described as 'situated in rough stony pasture on a north facing slope. This irregular stone has a long axis aligned WSW-ENE and measures 7 ft. high, 5 ft. wide and 3 ft. thick.'
