In Ballyskeagh High, County Down, a standing stone still rises from the earth, its age unknown but its presence unbroken. It has watched fields change, storms pass, and people come and go without asking permission. The stone does not need a date to be memorable. It stands because it has always stood, waiting for someone to notice that endurance is not the same as age.
