What is recorded here
Moycraig Upper once held a standing stone, but human hands removed it before record-keeping began. The loss is certain even though the age and purpose remain uncertain. A stone large enough to stand separate from the earth would have marked the landscape, perhaps as a boundary, memorial or gathering place. Its destruction erased the shape that made the meaning visible.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as STANDING STONE (destroyed). Recorded period: PREHISTORIC; UNCERTAIN. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.
