St Patrick’s Well, Furgill is traditionally associated with St Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland, and is believed to have been a site of Christian pilgrimage and healing. Holy wells dedicated to St Patrick are often linked to the tradition of seeking cures for various ailments, particularly through the ritual use of water, and are thought to date back to early medieval times when such sites were integrated into the Christianization of pre-existing sacred locations.
