St. Mary’s church consumes most of a small D-shaped graveyard in County Leitrim, leaving little room for burial or memory. The building stands on the old Cloone parish site, where a broken high-cross transom still waits beside the wall. People may have prayed beneath that cross before the current church replaced it, carrying continuity into stone rather than forgetting the earlier faith.

The first Roman Catholic church of St. Mary is within a small D-shaped graveyard (dims c. 50-55m N-S; c. 20-25m E-W) defined by masonry walls. The church takes up most of the available space and there are a few nineteenth and twentieth century headstones. This is also the site of the medieval parish church of Cloone (LE033-008004-), and the transom of the high cross (LE033-008003-) is displayed here.
