St Ednas RC Chapel

Roadside; cruciform church, long axis of nave NW-SE, with chancel to SE. 1842 and 1904 OS 6-inch maps show T-shaped structure, chancel must be recent addition, otherwise church has 19th-century appearance. Nave and transepts lit by pointed windows; entered through door in NW gable; gable topped by bellcote. Panelled wooden roof inside; classical wooden surround frames chancel arch. St Ednas RC Chapel in Johnstown was built in the 19th century, with a chancel added later, and is dedicated to Saint Ednas; its cruciform layout and T-shaped appearance reflect typical rural Catholic church design of the period, significant for serving the local Catholic community in a time of religious restriction.
