St Colme's Well is associated with St Colme, a 6th-century Irish saint and abbess, who is said to have founded a monastery in Galloway, Scotland. The well was traditionally visited for its healing properties, particularly for eye ailments and general well-being, and was likely a site of pilgrimage and Christian devotion during the medieval period.
