St. Assins Church

The roofless remains of a C of I church, dedicated to St. Assin was rebuilt (1712) on an earlier site. It is enclosed by a stone wall. There is a steep fall from the interior to the surrounding street level (H 1.9m). The present church has a steeply pitched E gable with remnants of a tracery window of dressed limestone. Built of randomly coursed, rubble masonry. It is entered through the W gable (int. dims. L 15.5m, Wth 6.5m, T 0.7m). There is a blocked doorway at W end of the N wall.
