Spittal of Glenshee Church is associated with Saint Fillan, a 7th-century Irish monk and missionary linked to several holy sites in Perth and Kinross. Local tradition holds that Saint Fillan founded a monastic settlement in the area, and nearby holy wells may have been used for Christian baptism and healing rituals.
