Somerset Lowry-Corry, 2nd Earl Belmore

Belmore Hall stands in County Dublin, the birthplace of Somerset Lowry-Corry, 2nd Earl Belmore, who entered the world there on 11 July 1774. He later carried that Irish origin into Tory politics and Caribbean governance, yet he died far from these streets in Leamington Spa on 18 April 1841. The hall preserves the sudden beginning of a life that crossed oceans, parliaments and empires before returning in memory rather than flesh.
