SMS S56 was a German destroyer scuttled in Scapa Flow, Orkney, on 21 June 1919 during the internment of the German High Seas Fleet following World War I. It was one of 52 ships deliberately sunk by its own crew to prevent capture; no lives were lost, and the wreck is now a protected historic site.
