Slipway in Cill Damhnait

Slipway

What is recorded here

Slipway in Cill Damhnait is a stone-built boat slip on the eastern shoreline beside a tower house in County Mayo. It is the kind of place where water work happened before written praise, pulling craft up or pushing them out without road or crane. The stones still mark that repeated human effort, repeating the motion of lives that no longer speak.
Immediately to E of a tower house (MA065-025001-). Remnants of a stone-built boat slip have been noted on the shoreline to E of the tower house. Compiled by: Jane O'Shaughnessy Date of upload: 18 June 2018
