Armadale Castle on Skye wears a rare gift: a surviving 19th-century walled garden beside its newer gardens. The castle belongs to Highland memory, but the garden wall belongs to human patience, building a small warm country inside the storm. Armadale Castle on Skye was built in the 19th century by the Macdonald family, who were historically significant clan leaders in the Scottish Highlands. The castle and its extensive gardens are important as a preserved example of Victorian-era estate architecture and landscape design in the Hebrides.
