Skye, Armadale Castle — Report the wrong picture

Armadale Castle stands as a roofless drystone box on a Skye slope, its walls barely reaching waist height beneath rushes and heather. Built during the nineteenth century, the house keeps a narrow eastern entrance and a western shadow where a quarry pit still dents the ground. It is not a grand castle but a domestic frame, large enough for rooms and hearths, now returned to the hill.

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Skye, Armadale Castle as Country House (19th Century). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

Armadale Castle on Skye was built in the 19th century as a country house by the Macdonald family, who were historically significant clan leaders in the Scottish Highlands. It is remembered for its architectural value and as a symbol of the region's noble heritage.
