Armadale Castle Bridge spans a narrow channel on Skye, linking the castle grounds across water that has resisted every human claim to certainty. The stones mark a boundary between ownership and openness, castle and sea, permission and prohibition. A person may stand beside it, watch the water pull at the foundation, and ask whether the castle still believes it owns the tide.

Armadale Castle on Skye was built in the 16th century by the Macdonalds of Clanranald and later held by the Macleods of Macleod. It is important as a historic seat of the Macleod clan and as an example of early Scottish castle architecture in the Western Isles.
