This plaque commemorates the Great Fire of London, which started on a site very close to this location in 1666.
Thomas Farriner was the owner of the bakery where the Great Fire of London began on 2 September 1666, leading to the destruction of much of the city. The fire's origin at his Pudding Lane bakery made him a key figure in one of London's most significant historical events.
