Site of R.C. Chapel

On a level landscape. The present Roman Catholic church of Clooncraff was built in 1844, Rev. Edward Keogh being parish priest, and it is located c. 230m SSW of this site which was just newly abandoned as the Roman Catholic church at the time of the 1837 ed. of the OS 6-inch map where it is depicted as a shell (dims c. 10m N-S; c. 5m E-W). The present church was renovated in the 1970s and dedicated to St Oliver Plunkett on 11th Dec. 1994, Bishop Christopher Jones officiating. There is no visible evidence of the old chapel.
