Site of Old Graveyard — Report the wrong picture

What is recorded here

Crann Cam, the crooked tree, marked a children's burial ground in Garranroe before the place vanished from later maps. The site may have been called Cromcon as far back as 1185, yet no stone or boundary remains visible to show where the smallest deaths were hidden. Forgetting did not erase the function of the ground; it removed the warning that children, not adults, belonged beneath it.

Annotated 'Site of Old Graveyard' on 1840 ed. OS 6-inch map but not indicated on subsequent ed. OS maps. Westropp (1904-5, 381) recorded the following; 'Kyle, of Crancam . Same. Perhaps the Cromcon in charter of Magio, 1185. In Garranroe, Garranroo, in Cosmay, 1586 (C.S.P.L, p. 238). Site - A burial-place'. The Ordnance Survey Letters recorded that this 'Kyle or burial ground for children called Crann Cam, crooked tree, is situated in Garranroe townland' (OSL Vol. 2, 392).
