What is recorded here

Kellys Castle vanished before the 1946 map, leaving no stone or ditch for eyes to find. It may have been a small fortress, a boundary marker, or a forgotten residence in the rolling Galway grassland. The land absorbed the walls, the walls absorbed the name, and the name survived only on paper.

In undulating grassland. Marked on 1st ed. of OS 6-inch map as a circular area enclosed by a broken line. On 3rd ed. (1946) only the 'Site of' symbol is shown. No visible surface trace survives.
