What is recorded here

Clocully Castle vanished so completely that a corrugated iron shed now occupies its exact location on the gentle NW facing slope. Maps from 1840 and 1907 still mark the site, but the ground holds no visible trace of the walls, rooms or lives that once filled the space. The castle may have been lost to time, decay or deliberate erasure, leaving only a blank patch of earth where human ambition once stood tall.
On a gentle NW facing slope in gently undulating terrain. Depicted on both the 1st (1840) and 2nd (1907) ed. OS 6-inch map as the site of Clocully Castle. There is no visible trace of the castle above ground level. A corrugated iron shed is situated where the castle formerly stood. Compiled by: Jean Farrelly Date of upload: 29 November 2013
