Ahgloragh Castle stood on a flooding ridge beside the Grange River in 1574, held by Edmund McMelaghlin. The structure has vanished entirely, leaving only cut stones buried inside nearby field walls. Those scattered fragments still mark the forgotten footprint of a building that once commanded the wet, rolling land.

On a ridge in rolling farmland liable to flooding, the Grange River flows to E. In existence in 1574 when 'Castle moell' was in the possession of 'Edmund McMelaghlin' (Nolan 1901b, 117). No visible surface trace survives. Some cut-stone fragments from it are incorporated into the adjoining field walls.
