SIR HENRY ROYCE 1863-1933 West Wittering was his home and his workplace from 1917 until his death. Some of his greatest designs were carried out in the studio at Camacha and at Elmstead where he lived. From here his staff at the Rolls-Royce factory in Der
Sir Henry Royce, co-founder of Rolls-Royce, lived and worked at West Wittering from 1917 until his death in 1933, producing some of his most significant car designs. The site is important as it reflects the creative environment where innovations in automotive engineering were developed during the early 20th century.
