What is recorded here

Situated near the top of a low rise on a S-facing slope in pasture and outcrop. Listed as ‘Enclosure’ in the SMR (1992) and the RMP (1996). Indicated and named ‘Sheepfold’ on the 1840 OS 6-inch map. A circular area (25.5m E-W; 26m N-S) defined by a drystone wall (H 1.45m; Wth 0.8m at base) from S through N to E. There is no evidence of a former wall continuing at SE. The wall has collapsed at NW where its two faces and rubble core are exposed. A gap at N has been filled in. The wall is similar to nearby field boundaries.
