What is recorded here

Lea is a ghost town swallowed by Laois fields, its medieval streets erased except for ambiguous ditches that may mark drainage rather than commerce. It rose quickly under English rule, hosted royal armies, burned under Offaly siege, and faded into waste by 1323. The ash tree and Whit-Monday fair kept the place alive in memory long after the buildings disappeared.
