What is recorded here
Hogan (1860-61, 384), speculates that the, ‘church of Sheepstown [KK031-015001-], down to a very modern period, stood in the centre of a public common, no doubt the site of the ancient town, and from which may be traced the remains of old roads radiating in sundry directions’. There is no indication of this settlement on either the 1st (1839) or 2nd (1901) ed. 6-inch OS map and it is not visible on the OS ortho or Digitalglobe aerial imagery. The precise location of this possible settlement is unknown.
