What is recorded here

Deserted Galway farmholds still scatter the western fields, abandoned when medieval people left rather than died. No grand castle or noble name belongs to the empty ground. The fields kept their shape while the people disappeared, suggesting exile, famine or a simple decision to stop carrying water uphill.
