What is recorded here

No stones or ditches remain for Castletown, yet the name resists erasure. A village once clustered there, large enough to be remembered but elusive enough to dodge the surveyors who drew Laois twice. The land keeps its own ledger, writing and deleting human marks without warning.

Not marked on the 1839 or 1909 eds OS 6-inch maps. Reference to a village in this area (Feehan 1983, 370). No visible surface remains.
