Seán T. O'Kelly

Number 55 Wellington Street in inner-city Dublin is the birthplace of Seán T. O'Kelly, the man who later became president of Ireland. He was born there on 25 June 1882 as John Thomas Kelly, eldest son of a boot and shoemaker. The address is ordinary now, but it is where the life began that would carry the state through its hardest decades.
