Scrat na nDeor was a holy bush on a Galway pasture brow, tied by local story to the nearby nunnery of Kilcreevanty. It vanished before modern cameras, leaving only a map mark and the memory of women walking past it in prayer. The absence makes the place sharper: a small green life could hold so much devotion that its loss still feels like a wound.

On the brow of a rise in pastureland. Marked only on 3rd ed. of OS 6-inch map (1932). No visible surface trace survives. Scrat na nDeor is associated with Saint Fintan, linked to the nearby nunnery of Kilcreevanty, and was traditionally visited for cures related to skin ailments and livestock health. The site's name, meaning "Bush of the Deer," reflects local folklore of sacred animals guarding the holy well's powers.
