What is recorded here
Youghal built the memorial for Nellie Fleming, its last sailing vessel, honouring every local seafarer the sea took. The town stopped pretending water gave more than it took. Each name absent from the deck becomes visible in the stone, and every departing boat still passes the same warning: joy must know loss, or it never learned the shape of love.
Erected by the people of Youghal in memory of the crew of NELLIE FLEMING Youghal's last sailing vessel and in memory of all local seafarers and fishemen who lost their lives at sea.
