Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Sanday, Whale Point as Chambered Cairn (neolithic)(possible), Mound (prehistoric). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 10m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

Neolithic chambered cairn, dating to approximately 3000–2500 BCE. It is significant as part of the broader Orkney Neolithic cultural landscape, reflecting early communal burial and ritual practices in northern Scotland.
