Castlehill on Sanday may have been a farmstead, though no date or boundary survives to confirm the claim. The name suggests a hill where power or protection once gathered before ordinary life took over. If people farmed there, they faced the same Orkney weather as everywhere else, with little more than stone and muscle to resist it.
