Gateway, c.1930, comprising pair of rock-faced limestone ashlar piers with gabled capping (having trefoil panels to gables), decorative iron double gates, irregular coursed tooled squared limestone curved (S-plan) flanking walls having rock-faced cut-stone coping, sections of decorative iron railings with finials, and pair of rock-faced limestone ashlar terminating piers with gabled capping. Road fronted at entrance to grounds of Saint Mary's Abbey.
An attractive gateway incorporating fine stone work, and decorative iron railings, which enhance the design quality of the composition. The gateway forms an integral component of the Saint Mary's Abbey estate, and contributes significantly to the visual appeal of the street scene.
