Saint Enda's

house

What is recorded here

End-of-terrace three-bay two-storey house, c.1880. Reroofed, c.1930. Refenestrated, pre-1999. Pitched roof with replacement artificial slate, c.1930, clay ridge tiles, rendered and red brick Running bond chimney stacks, rendered coping, and cast-iron rainwater goods on rendered eaves. Unpainted rendered walls with rendered channelled piers to ends. Square-headed window openings with rendered sills, and replacement uPVC casement windows, pre-1999. Square-headed door opening with replacement glazed timber panelled door, pre-1999. Set back from line of road with painted rendered boundary wall to front having rendered piers, and wrought iron gate.
A well-proportioned, modest-scale house retaining its original form and massing. However, inappropriate replacement fittings and materials have eroded much of the character of the site.
