Rubha Mòr is shown as a headland on the public map of Na h-Eileanan Siar. The saved point is the map point or the centre of its mapped shape.
Rubha Mòr is a basaltic sea cliff or headland formed during the Tertiary period, approximately 60 to 55 million years ago, as a result of volcanic activity associated with the North Atlantic Igneous Province. It is notable for its dramatic coastal exposure of columnar jointing, a common feature of ancient lava flows in the Western Isles.
