The Roman Circus Visitor Centre is located on the site of the Colchester Roman Circus, the only known Roman chariot racing venue discovered in Britain, dating back to the 1st century AD. It is associated with the Roman military and civilian presence in Camulodunum (modern Colchester) and is important for its unique archaeological remains, including starting gates, which provide insight into Roman entertainment and urban life in early Britain.
