Rolig Mhuire

Within an enclosure (MA087-043001-), on the W shoulder of Croagh Patrick. This penitential station is one of three close-set cairns, collectively known by the traditional name of 'Roilig Mhuire', which form part of the ‘Turas’ or traditional pilgrimage route on Croagh Patrick. Oval mound (6.8m NW–SE; 5.3m NE–SW; H 1.8m) of loose stones. The two other cairns (MA087-043003-; MA087-043005-) are located 3m to SW and 3m to NE, respectively. The outer mantle of each cairn is composed of loose small stones, most likely placed on the cairns by pilgrims, and a loose spread of stones around the base of each cairn is probably the result of slippage and pilgrim activity.
