What is recorded here

Coolasnaghta holds a triangular slab where shallow cups, circles and two crossing lines still mark the stone. Plough marks have wounded the surface, yet the old shapes survive beneath ordinary farm traffic. Whoever cut those marks did so deliberately, perhaps counting seasons, recording events or simply playing with a sharp tool on solid rock. The slab remains a witness, preserving a moment of human attention in County Carlow.

In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 25 January 2012 Triangular slab (0.85m x 0.82m x T 0.32m). Uneven decorated surface, now damaged by plough marks. Shallow decorations including at least four cup and circles, two X's and several cupmarks.
